Boston Clinical Team Leadership
Kassandra Coleman, M.S. BCBA, LABA
Clinical Director, Boston
Kassandra “Kassy” Coleman believes that it is important to help her clients reach their fullest potential and access what they want most from life by focusing her ABA programming on how to help them do the things they love and not to change who they are. She follows the same philosophy in her experiences with supervising RBTs, BCBAs, and graduate students. Kassy pushes her supervisees to discover what part of the field they are most passionate about and then guides them toward developing their expertise in that area. Kassy enjoys working with a collaborative clinical team to ensure that every client has access to the best clinical judgment possible. She also makes it a point to stay current with new developments in the ever-changing field of Applied Behavior Analysis, focusing particularly on trauma-informed ABA.
She has worked in various areas of ABA, from residential teenagers to early intervention. Verbal behavior programming and training are Kassy’s favorite part of the field to target and talk about., Kassy has served as the Clinical Director of a local agency where she especially enjoyed helping parents understand the benefits of ABA, training RBTs, and training graduate students to be BCBAs who appreciate the evolving field and the range of philosophies that can be found among practitioners.
Kassy started in the field in 2008 and, after 2 years of direct services, applied to Simmons College and got her Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis in August of 2013, passing the Board exam a month later. Kassy earned her second Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership at SNHU in January 2020. The coursework for this degree helped her to recognize the important qualities of a good leader and how to leverage her background in ABA to help RBTs feel valued and positive about their work experience on her team.
Kassy loves being a Mom of three (11-year-old son, 8-year-old daughter, and 4-year-old daughter). She loves trying new restaurants when traveling and spending time by a fire with her husband. She enjoys going to her kids’ sports games and dance events. Kassy’s happy place is spending time at New Found Lake.
Ian McGarvey, M.A., BCBA
Regional Clinical Director
Ian McGarvey has been working in the field of ABA since 2011, starting as a behavior technician. Ian had intended on returning to graduate school for sport psychology but fell in love with working in the field both for the science and the clients. Ian graduated with his master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University in May of 2013, and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in the same month. Ian joined the Michigan Behavior Frontiers team in September 2023. Prior to Behavior Frontiers, Ian worked with various populations, both in traditional ABA settings as well as in one-on-one consulting settings. Ian has also worked in a clinical director capacity for the last 6 years, coaching both practicum students and BCBAs to be successful supervisors.
Regarding clients, Ian’s passions include early functional communication training, trauma informed and compassionate care, and implementation of skills-based treatment and universal protocols. Ian also takes passion in coaching and mentoring other BCBAs. Ian’s philosophy when overseeing ABA services is that all services are client-centered and client-led. Ian’s favorite quote comes from B.F. Skinner and Ogden Lindsley: “The learner is always right.” Our behavior is a product of our environment, and we always have control to modify our environment to make sure our client’s and staff’s needs are met to grow!
